Mrs. Taylor has been afforded the opportunity to study various dance genres extensively at academies across the country, including: Cary Ballet Conservatory, Steps on Broadway, and Broadway Dance Center; as well as various conventions such as ProDance. Mrs. Taylor’s extensive dance experience is broad from the classical lines of ballet to the style of the stylish Spanish flamenco, to the grounded weight of hip hop; she has studied various genres including, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, African, Ballroom, Stepping, etc. Chelsea has been privileged to perform pieces exclusively choreographed by various so “You Think You Can Dance” choreographers such as Tabitha and Napolean Dumo, Shane Sparks, and Justin Giles.
Mrs. Taylor worked as a Dance Specialist under the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program at Midas Creek Elementary School. She continues to find ways to connect with the youth through community outreach programs. Mrs. Taylor concentrates heavily on teaching proper progressions and formulating proper technique to develop balanced creative dancers who are comfortable in a variety of genres and complex choreographies. She finds joy in seeing the tremendous things dance can bring to others lives. Mrs. Taylor is excited to continue to build a comprehensive dance education, performance program and Dance Company at Herriman High.
Ms. Missy Seawright is a dance artist and educator. She graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Dance emphasis Ballet in 2010, and a second Bachelors of Science in Dance Education (candidate) from Utah Valley University with a 3.75 GPA Magnum Cum Laude. She is also STOTT PILATES® trained instructor in Mat and Reformer as well as Zumba® certified. She has also been on adjunct faculty at Utah Valley University teaching Dance Conditioning. She is starting her first year of teaching in the fall of 2013 at Herriman High School and is very excited about it.
Ms. Seawright has received a performance scholarship for Repertory Ballet Ensemble and been on Synergy Dance Company at UVU. She has also danced professionally with Legacy Dance Theater. She also won an award for best emerging choreography in Utah Regional Ballet’s Choreography Design Project with her piece entitled “Adaptations”. Ms. Seawright has been teaching dance for over six years at various studios as well as coaching the Herriman Dance Company. She has had training with Utah Regional Ballet, Ballet West, and Regional Dance America festivals. As well as dancing, Missy has served in many leadership positions such as the Dance Department student representative with UVU Student Association, Latter Day Saints Student Association; University Relations Co-chair, scholarship member of UVU Student Association; assistant to the Vice President of student life, and club representative for Synergy Dance Company.
Ms. Seawright enjoys eating pizza, making new friends, wake boarding and playing the guitar. She has traveled all around the world including France, England, Italy, Hungary etc. In her spare time she likes to go country swing dancing and have game nights with friends.
